How we work
Materials and realization
A tube well is a type of water well in which a long 100–200 mm wide stainless steel tube or pipe is bored into an underground aquifer. The lower end is fitted with a strainer, and a pump at the top lifts water for irrigation. The required depth of the well depends on the depth of the water table.
Agriculture Tube Wells
Of the nearly 550,000 tubewells installed in Punjab, over 55 per cent are delivering water that is considered unfit for irrigating crops. Its saline and sodic contents are undermining sustainability of agriculture and damaging the quality of land.
